A shepherd's hut
is basically a mobile home that was used by shepherds
to provide shelter as they herded their flocks across
the land. The first evidence of a shepherd's hut dates
from 1596 and became a common sight in Southern England
in the 1800s as sheep were moved across the light chalky
soils to fertilise the land.
The shepherd's hut was their kitchen, bathroom, dining
room and storeroom all rolled into one. A 19th century
shepherd would never have imagined the luxurious grandeur
of modern shepherd's huts with their own bespoke electrical
and plumbing systems.
Blackdown Shepherd Huts exude quality. Custom designed
and built to order the two cousins, both qualified carpenters
with over 20 years’ experience, use seasoned oak
locally sourced from F.S.C. registered companies and the
skills of a local blacksmith to forge bespoke metal components
to fit their unique designs.
At Blackdown Shepherd Huts we have created a blend of
traditional beauty and modern day luxury to manufacture
solid, stylish and durable shepherd huts, as versatile
and practical as they always have been.
We can deliver your personalised hut anywhere in the UK,
