Since we last caught up with Lisa and Jamie from Old Rectory House on the north Somerset coast in 2023, much has changed. We thought it was time for a little update from the charming village of Kilve on the edge of the Quantock hills and explain what this incredible couple have been up to.
Minnie Arrives
As mentioned at the end of the last catch up, their planned 3rd shepherd hut was delivered around early Autumn of 2023. Jamie and Lisa chose another of our Turnkey huts, but this time with the wriggly tin exterior. They took their time to install ‘Minnie’, adding an impressive decking area surrounding it. A super way to create that feeling of bringing the inside out, or the outside in.
Expanding the Vision: The Woodland Sanctuary
Rectory House has evolved into a full retreat experience. Tucked among the trees, a Woodland Sanctuary has been added in 2024. Offering top-tier spa facilities, a banquet hall, and an outdoor kitchen—they’ve created a true haven for relaxation. The spa includes a sauna with woodland and sea views, an ice bath for cold therapy, a wood-fired hot tub, and an outdoor shower complete with a drench bucket. The Woodland Banquet Hall is ideal for gatherings, while the outdoor kitchen—equipped with a wood-fired grill, BBQ, and pizza oven—is perfect for open-flame cooking.
The Studio: A Sanctuary for Wellness
A key addition to Rectory House is the multipurpose Studio, designed with peace and tranquillity in mind. A soothing colour palette and a logburner creates a space of inner calm. Their Studio has become a hub for wellness activities, hosting yoga, Pilates, sound therapy, meditation, and even textile crafting. There’s also a separate Treatment Room within the old Coach House, together with beautifully appointed bedrooms, kitchen and lounge area. Great for group retreats.
Enhancing the Outdoor Pool
To complement the luxurious offerings, the outdoor swimming pool has been upgraded with a hot tub and a stylish new pool house, adding to the sense of indulgence and relaxation.
