Marcia’s Garden Hideaway

,

Whether it is a brand new office or a room at the end of the garden, we adore hearing the ways you have used our shepherd’s huts in your lives. Here is Marcia’s story.

Discovering Blackdown

My son and his family live in Surrey and after an abortive attempt to find a house near them, we decided I should have a Shepherd’s Hut in their garden.

We were in negotiation with other possible suppliers when my son saw Blackdown’s Landrover beetling down the A303 with your logo flashing by.  As he had also advertised his business in a similar way and we have family connections near Blackdown we decided to investigate.

The Blackdown Experience

We were soon drawn in by the friendly personal service and the quality of the workmanship and placed our order.  I chose the paint colours but my son paid the visit to Blackdown and decided on the other details.  I was not able to see the hut before delivery and it might have been a disaster and a huge disappointment, particularly as it arrived on site after a very tricky journey, which included a low bridge that took off the chimney. But there isn’t one single thing that disappoints and a new chimney was immediately sent up from Somerset and the broken one replaced on site. This and the tricky final site placing of the hut was done with the greatest, charm, efficiency and good humour.

I found my first impression of the hut overwhelming, it is made with such love and care and has so many thoughtful additions.  I will not list them all for everyone should have these little surprises, but one that I am particularly fond of is the tree cut into the shutter that is only seen when you pull down the bed.  The hut is made with outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail, I feel awed and very grateful every time I stay there.

I don’t think there is another hut to match mine, but if there is it certainly comes from Blackdown Shepherd Huts!

Thank you to everyone at Blackdown!
