Nick and Sian live at Lydford Farm and we at Blackdown are always overjoyed when our huts can truly transform a place; they did just that at this Devon glamping site. Here’s their story….
‘Nick’s grandparents came to Lydford Farm in the 1950s. It used to be a working farm but now we are just farm tourists. We have a small, uncommercial campsite on the farm and two gorgeous holiday cottages. There were also three static caravans which didn’t really fit the image we wanted so we decided to replace them with two shepherds huts.
‘I’d had my eye on Blackdown since they started up and so they were our first choice once we made the decision to upgrade. The hut will be used for holiday guests, but I really wish I could have one of my very own. The huts sleep two people and we went for the bathroom, kitchen, bed combo.
‘Interior design wise, we went for ‘down pipe’ in one and ‘mizzle’ in the other; I then chose some Vanessa Arbuthnot fabrics as I love her designs and the fact that she is a small business like Blackdown.
‘I love everything about the huts – it’s like playing dolly houses! They look amazing, and the craftsmanship is unsurpassed – they are truly fabulous. I really want to move into one – there’s just enough room for me and my dachshund – sadly the rest of the family and dogs don’t fit so it’s a no go!
‘I think the guests are going to love it – how could they possibly not! The view combined with superior accommodation should be a winner.
‘Everything was first class at Blackdown from start to finish. Its a truly brilliant company. I don’t need to recommend them – one look and they’ve sold themselves.’
