Our customers are always delighted when they receive their huts! We love the excitement from each and every one of our customers – it makes our job truly worthwhile!
We also know that our customers adore the hamper we put together for their huts. We source local goodies and that gives us great joy too. But, most often, we get feedback about the handmade Blackdown Sheep that comes with that hamper.
You might not know how the Blackdown Sheep came about, so here’s that very story!
In 2014 Nicky Driver had a Blackdown Shepherd’s Hut delivered to the grounds of her house near St Mawes in Cornwall, and she was over the moon. She was also delighted by the hamper that we provided and when she kindly sent a thank you note for this to the Blackdown team, she included the most adorable little handmade mouse in dungarees bearing the Blackdown emblem.
We at Blackdown thought this little creature was just adorable, and got straight back to Nicky to thank her, and to ask her if she fancied make some more little animals for the Blackdown hampers, but this time the team requested sheep (to keep in the Blackdown theme of shepherd’s huts, of course!).
This was a perfect challenge for Nicky who uses her hut as a craft and sewing studio. Nicky then sat in her wriggly tin hut with its log burner and crafted the Blackdown Sheep with its colours that echo the Blackdown theme that we all know and love!
Nicky’s hobby is crafting and, as well as the Blackdown Sheep, she makes rabbits, ragdolls and upholstery. We’d love to see pictures of your Blackdown Sheep in your huts! Do send them on through to claire@blackdownshepherdhuts.co.uk!
And thank you again, Nicky, for the iconic Blackdown Sheep! Baaaaaa!
